Harris Tweed Hebrideshas seen a great boost to it’s company due to many designers bringing the old fabric back within their designs. These designers include the likes of Vivienne Westwood, Alexander McQueen, Chanel, YSL and Paul Smith. Not only has this explosion in popularity meant that everyone knows of the brand; but the demand for the fabric has meant that the company can offer many jobs to the local residents, whereas before they didn’t have the means. I always find it great when such traditional ways of working can be used within the fashion and design world and appreciated for how well crafted it is!

I really love what Vivienne Westwood has done with the traditional fabric. It is also refreshing when British designers use their home grown merchandise instead of looking to far flung continents around the globe. It’s such a great boost for British design.
